FOUNDER OF MY REVEL LIFE

Beyond being a follower of Jesus Christ, Dave Brown is nothing more than a simple human being (and a closet Trappist) in desperate need of His Master: The Triune God. His greatest desire is for loving and Divine intimacy with the Trinity. Second to that, to walk before THEM in holiness, humility, revelliousness, exuberant humor, and purity of heart all the days of his life. To meet his needs, Dave works as an ecological engineer, inventor, writer, and personal trainer (mixed martial arts, holistic life-discipline, and meditative prayer). If you’re interested in engaging with Dave in conversation or through personal one-on-one training in living revelliously, he’d love to hear from you. If you’re interested in his engineering and inventiveness sides, please visit his other website at www.stormwaterme.net

A MESSAGE FROM DAVE

BECOME AN ARTIST OF LIFE BY PURSUING THE EVOLUTION OF YOUR BEING

Greetings, friend…

Welcome to MyRevelLife, a venue where I hope you’ll be inspired to pursue the Revel-life: A life of whole-heartedness created by your intentional and integrated pursuits of loving and Divine intimacy with God, your own self, the people around you, and the whole of creation.

My name is Dave Brown. I’m 57 years old. I’m a Jesus-lover, and I’m the founder of MyRevelLife.

I’m also the founder of Jiin Senshi Do (“The Way of the Temple Warrior”), a contemplative way of life devoted to training in Martial Arts, Holistic Life Discipline, and Meditative Prayer.

Every day, I pursue the evolution of my being. I do this by training at my limits—not just physically but also emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. To get what I want, I pay the price in every moment of every day.

I’m so very grateful for everything that’s ever happened to me. All of it has worked for good and has helped me become more of who I am in my Truest Self.

THE RESULT?

I feel deeply loved, wanted, and connected. I live largely without fear, and I feel genuinely happy most of the time. I’m also deeply in love with God, my own heart and life, my family and friends, and even nature.

What about you? Do you desire to live and feel similarly? To discover and learn how to live out the best version of yourself? If so, let’s partner together and begin today to create the “you” you long to be in your Truest Self. Let’s train together and, as friends, pursue loving connections, eliminate chronic fear, and design revelliously whole-hearted lives.

Grace and peace to you, friend…

Dave

I believe in many things. Chief among them, that transformation (or self-transcendence) is available to each of us through faith in Jesus and through partnership with him in doing significant inner and outer work. While we all want many things, the one I believe tops many lists (of course, below the desire for intimate and Divine union with God Almighty!) is the elimination of fear.

Fear (or chronic, low-level anxiety) is the black plague of our day; and it’s killing us by the millions. How many of us long to rid ourselves of such an enslaving condition of heart and mind? To be done with fear that we might be truly free to pursue our dreams, live peacefully, and empty ourselves into those we love and care about most?

Where are you in all this? Do you, like most people, want to end fear in your life and be able to love people as a central part of who you are? And, if so, to what lengths are you willing to go to get what you want?

If you’re willing (and if you’ll allow me), I’d like to come alongside you to help you get more of what you want. Be advised, though: Training in all these things is tough. It will cost you (this I guarantee!). Not so much monetarily, but physically, emotionally, mentally, and, of course, spiritually. Eliminating fear is a lot like trying to drive a bear out of a cave. It won’t leave voluntarily, and the fight it puts up will take you to your limits.

Are you sold on all this yet?

THE FEW, THE PROUD, THE REVELLIOUS

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND MY REVEL LIFE

“The REVELLIOUS, Dave?” Yes.

But that word doesn’t even exist.

Correct. “REVELLIOUS” doesn’t exist—at least, you won’t find it in Webster’s Dictionary. But… the words “revel,” “reveler,” “revelry,” and “reveille” do exist. So, too, do the words “rebel,” “rebels,” “rebellion,” “rebellious,” and “rebelliousness.” In creating this new word—revellious (and all its many conjugations)—I am, herein, blending the words revel and rebellious.

Why is that? Good question.

The reason is quite simple and, I hope, somewhat intuitive: Being grumpy, cynical, disoriented, and down- or half-hearted are the default states of the ho-hum, immature, irresponsible, unintentional, sleepy, and still- steeped-in-fallenness approach to daily life. To be a reveler—one who revels in the wonders of Life, Light, Love, Freedom, Joy, Goodness, Generativeness, Whole-heartedness, Relational Reconciliation, and Redemptive Intimacy [with God, your own self, those around you, and the whole of creation]—you must rebel, and do so with great joy and tenacity, against the erosive entropy of the above default states.

Being a reveler – a devoted, enthusiastic, and purpose-driven person, where genuine happiness becomes a force of nature within your soul – requires significant, preconsidered intentionality and an almost continual breaking-with-the-herd mentality.

As a point of clarity, I write and share only out of personal experience, and I recommend only those things I do (or have done) myself. There’s nothing contained on this website or in any of my writings or digital materials that’s not drawn from my direct, first-hand experience. My desire is to share with you only what I (1) believe to be true and (2) do every, or most every, day.

For example, when I write about the “freedom-creating” act of making my bed every morning, what I’m alluding to is how crafting a military-style bunk (I call it “my corps rack”), and how doing it really, really well every morning without missing one for more than thirty-eight years, helps me begin each day with having already completed one task well.
Doing this one simple yet very disciplined task sets the tenor for the rest of my morning and, from there, the rest of my day. To quote Jocko Willink, author, podcaster, and retired United States Navy officer “Discipline equals freedom”.

Discipline equals freedom.
JOCKO WILLINK

Living a disciplined life creates significant space for great spontaneity in that life. This website and everything I create is a funneled distillation of the approach I take to life and how you, too, can create something similar for yourself. I relish the opportunity to come alongside you and help you to do just that. I’ll leave you with a quote from Les Brown, one of my many mentors:

It’s possible, ladies and gentlemen, to redesign your life…
even as you’re approaching the end of the very last day of it.

INTENTIONAL LIFE DESIGN

YOU ARE the artist of your life

You are a designer. You always have been and you always will be. Because you’re a designer, you’re always designing your life elements: Your relationships, your work and career, your personal growth, your living space arrangements, and even your daily clothing ensembles. The question I have, though, is this: Do you design those elements intentionally?
I’d like to ask that question again…

In your day-to-day—day-in day-out—life-design activities, are you intentional in those efforts? Yes? No? Maybe? Sometimes? If you’re reading this, I bet you’re intentional in at least a few arenas of your life.

That asked, I believe there’s an even deeper, more relevant—and revealing—question we all need to ask ourselves, and that’s this: [Self/Name…] What do you really want in life?

This is definitely a weightier question. If you don’t know what you want (and I mean specifically in an “I know deep inside what I have to have”), the long-term “products” of your daily life design, no matter how diligent you might be, will probably not be grounded in who you really are, what you truly want, and what makes you come alive as a person.
Again I ask you: What do you want?

My overarching purpose in creating MyRevelLife is to inspire you to partner with Jesus to help you develop the tools you need to discover what it is you want in the really big arenas of life, to discover what will be required of you to get what you want, and then to pay the price required to get those things.

By “big arenas,” what I’m talking about are the intangibles of true, whole-hearted living: Walking in loving intimacy with God (what we a MyRevelLife call “participative-theoria”), your own self (what we call “personal integratedness”), the people around you (what we call “redemptive community”), and even nature (what we call “eco-social connectedness”).

MyRevelLife exists to help you in your quest to ask and answer these questions. More than that, we exist to help you pursue and grow in these very personal and life-encompassing intimacies, which organically create a life of whole-hearted ‘revelliousness’.

walking in intimacy with:

YOUR OWN SELF
through Personal Integratedness

THE PEOPLE
AROUND YOU
through Redemptive Community

NATURE
through Eco-social

This is definitely a weightier question. If you don’t know what you want (and I mean specifically in an “I know deep inside what I have to have”), the long-term “products” of your daily life design, no matter how diligent you might be, will probably not be grounded in who you really are, what you truly want, and what makes you come alive as a person.
